It’s with a mixture of pride, gratitude and a few emotional goodbyes that we announce the retirement of our Group Managing Director, Steve Cusick.
Steve’s journey with JET PRESS began in May 1988 when he joined us as the Company Accountant. Back then, the world and JET PRESS looked very different. Over the years, Steve’s quiet determination, sharp mind and calm leadership saw him progress through the business. He became our Financial Controller, joined the Board of Directors in 2003 and in January 2022, took the helm as Group Managing Director.
For nearly four decades, Steve has been at the heart of JET PRESS. His impact goes far beyond job titles or responsibilities. He’s been a steady hand through times of change, guiding us through the complexities of Brexit, the uncertainty of Covid, and helping to shape the future of the business in the years that followed. Whether it was tackling the numbers or navigating uncharted waters, Steve did it all with integrity and a deep commitment to the people around him.
But Steve isn’t just a business leader. Those who know him well will tell you about his passion for rugby, a sport that’s not only brought him joy as a player and coach but also given him cherished memories coaching his two boys through their junior years. These days, he can often be found on the sidelines, cheering on Loughborough Rugby Club or supporting Loughborough University’s teams. And when he's not pitch-side, he’s on the golf course or enjoying the fast-paced challenge of padel tennis, his latest sporting adventure.
Reflecting on his time at JET PRESS, Steve shared:
“It’s been both an honour and a pleasure to be part of JET PRESS for 37 years. I’ve grown from my early days in Finance to taking on the role of Managing Director, but the real highlight has always been the people. I’ve had the privilege of working with a brilliant team and I’ve trusted and enjoyed every step of the way. I hope I’ve been a steady and supportive influence over the years. I’m especially grateful to Gustav and Barry for giving me the opportunity all those years ago, and to Olly for his support over the last three years.”
As Steve embarks on this new chapter, we want to thank him not just for the strategic decisions and steady guidance, but for the spirit he brought to JET PRESS. He’s helped build a culture where people matter, where values aren’t just written on a wall and where leadership means listening as much as leading.
Steve, you leave behind a legacy of excellence and a business that’s better because of your time here. You’ll always be part of the JET PRESS story.
Please join us in celebrating Steve’s incredible career and wishing him every happiness in his well-earned retirement.
